About Us
Darkhouse Publishing is a collective of writers, editors, and booksellers dedicated to publishing quality horror and speculative dark fiction. Our mission is to present imaginative and well-crafted works in attractive editions.
We pride ourselves on the layout and editing of our books. We want our books to provide a complete experience - as easy on the eye as they are wracking on the nerve. We love fiction that expands the boundaries of genre through its use of themes, characters, and cultures, not through gratuitous violence, "extreme" sex, and re-worked pastiche. If the tale crosses genre lines, we will probably love it; if it reads as if written by an angry second-grader, we're not interested.
Bottom line: frightening, disturbing, and suspenseful are good; repulsive, nauseating, and derisive are bad.
Very bad.
And lastly, our books are designed to be affordable. Although we may produce the occasional limited edition that will be priced higher, our emphasis will always be trade paperbacks offered at prices that won't break your bank account.
Unfortunately we're not currently accepting submissions. Our publishing is by invitation-only, and hopefully, someday, you may be contacted by us. Keep a watch on us though, as things frequently change.
