R. B. Payne
R. B. PAYNE believes that unbridled fear is the rocket fuel of evolution, synesthesia happens more often than we know, and there are humans walking among us. Richard’s coffin of dirt from the old country is hidden in the hills above Los Angeles where he lives with his wife, a psychic blind cat, and a favorite guitar. He has been previously published in Doorways magazine and HarperCollins The Book of Lists: Horror. His writing will appear later this year in Dark Discoveries magazine, and the anthologies Don't Read This! Chilling, Thrilling, Fantastic Tales for the Young and Young at Heart, and Butcher Knives and Body Counts: Essays on the Formula, Frights, and Fun of the Slasher Film. More frights to follow. Telepathic impulses are frequently recorded at www.rbpayne.com. |
From Midnight Walk's reviews:
"There's a streak of dark comedy in R. B. Payne's "Eddie G. at the Gates of Hell," in which a man on a road trip with his wife and kids hears voices - like from the giant fly atop his car - telling him to kill his family."

"...deliciously gruesome..."
Bookgeeks
" "Eddie G. at the Gates of Hell" by R. B. Payne delivers the dark and delightfully gory details of a man at war with his inner demon..."
Creature Feature Tomb of Horror
"R.B. Payne's "Eddie G. at the Gates of Hell" explores the devastating effects of schizophrenia on the family and self in this visceral, disturbing tale of doppelgangers, dead bodies, animal slaughterhouses, and a curious monster fly set against the backdrop of the arid Southwestern desert and an abandoned roadside tourist trap along the legendary Route 66."
